CHARACTER INFORMATION
CHARACTER NAME: Sabrina Spellman
CANON: The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
TIMELINE: P3E3 - Before her throne gets challenged
AGE: 16
REFERENCE: Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3
PERSONALITY: Determination is the word. Sabrina has fought endlessly for what she believes in, and she never puts her head down regardless of the challenger or the challenger.
This is both her best and worst characteristic. Sabrina is ambitious and impulsive and will stop at nothing to get what she wants, which sometimes backfires as an unfortunate chain of terrible events. When begged to not do anything harsh and wait for her boyfriend to return with answers when she uncovers her role as the Herald of Hell, Sabrina does the opposite and creates a double of herself in order to strip her from her powers, thus hindering her from fulfilling the prophecy... And accidentally doing so in the process. All due to her inability to stay put and her willingness to solve problems at all costs. She wants both power and freedom, two things that are hard to achieve without a fight.
Passionate, Sabrina does everything and anything for her friends and family, again disregarding the consequences. From her current canon point, she becomes the Queen of Hell to ensure the release of her boyfriend, who bears Satan himself inside of him. When her ex’s brother passed, she performed a ritual to bring him back, she has healed her best friend’s chronic blindness, so on. The list of deeds that Sabrina has done for others is countless, although the true nature of her actions remains up for debate. Did she do it for herself or out of true concern? The jury’s still out.
This passion has sent her in several directions, especially when it comes to her powers. When she was able to perform miracles, she quickly did everything she could, not only for others but for herself. Not considering her aunt Hilda’s advice, Sabrina believed and stated that there are no prices or consequences for her, and thus, she was free to use her gifts and share them however she liked, how she pleased to. Her abilities and status as a grand witch cause her to be arrogant at times, reckless, and believing that she is untouchable, much to the dismay of her family – when they actually find out about it. Sabrina is not above lying and omitting the truth if she believes such will either cause pain or cause her problems for herself and otherwise.
Truth be told, there is a strong duality that colors Sabrina’s life. Be good as a mortal, or be evil as a witch? She has extraordinarily strong morals, from an appreciation for life all the way to avid feminism, and sometimes, those clash with the values taught in the Academy of Unseen Arts. She is constantly in trouble for speaking up, digging her heel, and not letting any atrocity cross paths with the Church of Night, regardless of the willingness of the latter. In Part One, the entire plotline is about her refusing to sign the Book of The Beast and take over her life as a young witch, as she wants the best of both worlds. Sabrina strongly disagrees with Hell itself, not accepting that kind, gentle souls are condemned to an eternity of damnation simply for selling their soul instead of deserving it through their life choices. Indeed, when she finds out agreements can be set in exchange for an innocent soul, she becomes irate.
An avid and outspoken feminist, Sabrina doesn’t allow anyone to treat her or other women as anything but an equal. She antagonizes Blackwood over his “Top Boy” contest, signing up herself to become “Top Person”, she begins a women’s club in her mortal school in order to “topple the patriarchy” and protect her best friend, Theo Putman, a transman who was at the time trying for the men’s basketball team, and she doesn’t stop fighting for women with each and every breath. This causes clashes with her aunts and other witches, as the traditions are often important to them and date back thousands of years or more.
The good thing for Sabrina that she does not mind the change, she welcomes it with open arms and a defiant smile on her face, knowing fully well that, while they can suck, she can surely turn them around and come out victorious. In the end, she is just a sweet girl, with a flaming heart and defiance in her bones, who would do anything in the world to help those she loves, regardless of what the consequences can be. She is smart, resourceful, studious, and talented. At her core, there is the need of being in control of her own destiny and a hunger for power, and she will stop at nothing to get what she wants.
ABILITIES: Sabrina is half-witch, taking from her divine blood as the daughter of Lucifer Morningstar. She can easily pull off complicated spells, such as summoning Hellfire, something that is said to only have been accomplished by three other witches. She can also turn her eyes white to give herself a more Satanic vibe.
Sabrina has extensive knowledge of charms, hexes, curses and spells, some that require certain items. The list of spells is extensive, so here it is! https://riverdale.fandom.com/wiki/Witch/Spells_and_Rituals
